NORTH AMERICAN IMPACT
Freeport-McMoRan, a premier natural resource company, operates large, long-lived, diverse assets of copper, gold, molybdenum, cobalt, oil and gas in the western United States of America. A large immigrant and Spanish-speaking community lives in the region around the company's mineral and gas production facilities. With headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona, Freeport-McMoRan has engaged partner organizations across the United States to offer the Spanish-language version of DreamBuilder to small business owners and aspirational entrepreneurs. An English-language version of DreamBuilder was launched this year to serve wider group of entrepreneurs in North America.
WHAT THEY ARE SAYING IN NORTH AMERICA
“We are so pleased to be able to increase our commitment to women, their economic empowerment and the opportunity to make a substantial and lasting investment in the sustainable development of the respective regions targeted for the roll-out of the DreamBuilder program.”
-Tracy Bame is the Director of Social Responsibility & Community Development for Freeport-McMoRan and President of the Freeport-McMoRan Foundation
“Empowering women through education provides opportunities for them to live more productive lives, which would enable the development of healthier, more sustainable communities.”
-Richard Adkerson is the President and CEO of Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold, Inc.
“I’m often asked why a business school that exists to educate MBA’s and high potential executives would spend so much energy on training women small business owners worldwide. The answer is an easy one… business schools teach us how to recognize good investments, and investing in women makes good business sense. Women are just about the best investment one can make, yet an incredibly underutilized resource.”
-Kellie Kreiser is the Executive Director of Thunderbird for Good at Thunderbird School of Global Management
